[Mysql] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket

  • Hi,

    I run i-MSCP 1.1.14 under debian Wheezy
    Since few hour, the server is down and mariadb don't want to start again.
    Here the logs :

    Quote

    Nov 17 14:58:55 gratitude /etc/init.d/mysql[6071]: 0 processes alive and '/usr/bin/mysqladmin --defaults-file=/etc/mysql/debian.cnf ping' resulted in
    Nov 17 14:58:55 gratitude /etc/init.d/mysql[6071]: #007/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
    Nov 17 14:58:55 gratitude /etc/init.d/mysql[6071]: error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (111)'
    Nov 17 14:58:55 gratitude /etc/init.d/mysql[6071]: Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' exists!

    I read a lot of doc, tried a lots of tips, but no chance : it's doens't want to start again.

    My /etc/mysql/my.cfg file :

    Quote

    # ls -al /var/run/mysqld/
    total 0
    drwxr-xr-x 2 mysql root 60 Nov 17 14:44 .
    drwxr-xr-x 17 root root 740 Nov 17 14:43 ..
    -rw-r--r-- 1 mysql mysql 0 Nov 17 14:44 mysqld.sock

    Just ask if you need other information...

  • Hello ;

    DId you have do anything special such as changing a parameter from the my.cnf? Did you do any update operation on your system? More specially, did you have changed the innodb_log_file_size parameter value?

    If you want, give me a root access (also the SQL root password) and I'll have a look.

  • No, I didn't touch to innodb_log_file_size but I change few things to my.cfg (tips read somewhere).

    Please send me your ssh pub key via MP and I give you access.

  • Re ;

    And what are those changes ?

    See my signature (at bottom) for my SSH key.

    Please, don't pollute this thread with your own problems even if you think that "this can be same". Open another thread with the needed logs and so on. Nothing has been changed in the 1.1.17 which can cause such issue.

  • @Phinous

    Ok, just say me when the file is restored and once, it's done, don't touch anything as long I'm working on your server.

    Thanks.

  • Re;

    I can do nothing because you destroyed your server.

    A simple ls -la on / let me think that you should really consider to learn a bit:

    Can you say here what are all that garbage??? Also, I was unable to reinstall mariadb at first because the permissions on / was wrong...
    You switched to mysql server while mariadb-10.0 was expected. And I don't talk about your other changes...

    Well, you can just reinstall the whole now ;)
