  • What happens, when you're trying to run apt-get upgrade without "sudo" as root user?

  • root@server:~# apt-get upgrade
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
The following packages will be upgraded:
    dpkg file libmagic1 libpq5 linux-base linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 linux-libc-dev mutt openssh-client openssh-server tzdata
11 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
4 not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 0 B/36.8 MB of archives.
After this operation, 1492 kB of additional disk space will be used.
Do you want to continue [Y/n]?

  • Please post your /etc/apt/source.list. I think a repository causes the problem.

PS: Atm do you have squeeze or wheezy?

  • Thanks @Ninos, I removed the vps is to do some testing and to practice some things poneren the panel.

It will not take much to cause the error, I put it again with the same panel for debian and upgrade again

  • Best solution, IMHO, clean Wheezy install, not upgrade. It might cause you some downtime, but I had everything running in under 2 hours when I did that. Upgrades can always cause unexpected problems. Sometimes sooner, sometimes later.

it ain't that hard to do.
