Ubuntu 12.04 with PHP 5.4

  • Hi there,

i found a possibility to update from PHP 5.3 to PHP 5.4 (https://launchpad.net/~ondrej/+archive/php5)

    My questions are:

    • Is there anyone who already updated PHP to version 5.4?
    • Is I-MSCP PHP 5.4 ready?

    Short information:
I am using a file upload script. If I use PHP version 5.4 or newer there will be a upload progress bar. It's only a "nice to have" feature so I wanted to ask if it's possible at ... no risk?? ;)

  • Hello,

i-MSCP is not full ready for PHP-5.4. I would recommend you to wait little.

    Thank you for the information.
Is there already a request to get I-MSCP 5.4 ready?

  • I cannot recommand using 5.4. I did so for testing purposes on a gentoo-machine and had trouble with some popular applications (like squirrelmail for example). Is there anything in 5.4 that you need especially or is it only about having the newest version? :D

  • New does not always mean its better than the older version. I get very paranoid when something 'new' comes out as there is normally more bugs than the old version (not talking about i-mscp ;):D )
