Upgrade to php 5.5 or higher i-MSCP 1.3.5 Debian Linux 7 ? How to ??

  • What is the best practices to upgrade from PHP 5.4.45 to php 5.5 or higher ? Without breaking something ? ;(

    I have i-MSCP 1.3.5 Build: 20161001 Codename: Horner - Debian Linux 7

    PHP 5.4.45-0+deb7u5 (cli) (built: Sep 18 2016 13:28:42) Zend Engine v2.4.0, Copyright (c) 1998-2014

  • Good evening,

First of all, I would recommend you to maintain your i-MSCP installation up-to-date.

Regarding your question, there is an easy way and a hard way ;)

    The easy way

Buy the PhpSwitcher plugin and you'll be able to provide your customers or your own sites with the PHP versions that you want (PHP 4.4, 5.2, 5.3, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 7.0, 7.1).

    The hard way

You can always modify the i-MSCP packages file for your distribution by replacing it through a listener file. Your own packages file would install PHP through an external repository such as Dotdeb. You can find a example here: https://github.com/i-MSCP/imsc…ontrib/Listeners/Packages which has been made for Debian Jessie. Hence, it must be adapted using the packages file for Debian Wheezy.
