no changes at /etc/network/interfaces

Hallo,

Is there any way to tell I-MSCP to not modify my /etc/network/interfaces configuration? If it modifies the file and adds its own entries my server is getting some errors on boot which causes Ubuntu to wait 3x 60 seconds (https://petermolnar.eu/ubuntu-…or-network-configuration/)

Did you read the errata file from 1.2.x Serie?

Basically, if you configure your network interfaces manually (including IP addresses that you added through i-MSCP control panel) in the /etc/network/interfaces file, i-MSCP will not touch those entries. i-MSCP only add it own entries for the IP addresses that are not yet configured (not present in the /etc/network/interfaces file). If that is not the case this should be considered like a bug in the i-MSCP network interface provider.

Thx for your reply.

Currently I am using a server hosted by Strato. Strato preconfigured the interface file with ipv4 dhcp which is working very well. I think that is the reason why I-MSCP wants to add the IP Adresse.

I know you want to make I-MSCP as user friendly as possible. But for me it would be great if there are possibilities to disable some things like this.

Sure. In next release, we could a button into the interface (admin side) which would allows to disable autoconfiguration. That would be ok for you?

BTW: Usage of DHCP in the context of an hosting server is something rare. But I can understand that there is some exceptions.

### IP addresses management
#### Installer
It is no longer possible to register additional addresses IP through the installer. Right now, the installer will only
ask you for your primary IP addresse which must be pre-configured.
Note that the primary IP address is always set with the `manual` configuration mode (see below). It is up to
you to change that through the administrator interface.
#### IP configuration modes
It is now possible to choose the configuration mode for IP addresses that are added through i-MSCP administrator
interface. The mode are `auto` and `manual`.
Note that the `manual` mode is only appropriate on servers for which network interfaces are configured through DHCP, or
when you must set a specific netmask.
##### Auto configuration mode
In this mode, i-MSCP automatically configures the target IP address if not already present in the network interfaces
configuration file.
##### Manual configuration mode
In this mode, i-MSCP will remove any entry previously added for the target IP address and skip its configuration. In
such case, the configuration is left to the administrator.
