Check FTP logs and auth.log.
If your PHP script is hacked (or used right), it is possible to upload new files to accounts, also to overwrite exsisting files like index.php.
That will be more likely -
@ssibal, can't say that that will solve the issue, because we don't know what causes the problem.
But since 1.x there have been a lot of issues solved, so maybe it does, yes.Read the errdata and readme files, your settings and users will be kept.
**edit, could you check what unix groups that vu user is in?**

What files were modified/deleted? What directories?
If the permissions are set right, the VU can only use the /var/www/domain.tld/* directory. -

Could be, yes, but the IPs you 2 used are different (ipv4/ipv6).
Try the debian mirror redirect if you still can't get it to work: http://http.debian.net/For you smallserver, try using a ipv4 mirror if ipv6 ones don't work.

Just try to re-run that installer, seems like a broken internet connection (maybe signal loss or corrupt package).
Also try to update apt before running the installer. You should get the same errors/warnings:apt-get update
or
aptitude update -
This means that the MySQL daemon was reachable but disconnected without a proper exit code.This problem usually happens when a server has a very high load avg, when the CPU is occupied or there's no RAM available.
If you're running Monitorix (or any other similar statistics software) you might be able to find out what's going on
