Can't change the an email account back from domain name to forwarding mail

  • Hey there,

I am using v1.0.3.0 (which my provider has installed - I can't update that)

When I created a domain mail account, i can change passwords and everything, and I can even make it become a domain and forwarding mail at the same time.

I'd like to change the domain mail account into a pure forwarding account.

It seems like the only way to do so is to delete the domain mail and re-add that account as a forwarding mail. Is this the only way or am I just blind and don't see it?

    (see attachments for details)

    Thanks in advance

  • We don't give support for this old version anymore. Please ask your provider for support.

  • They won't update, that's why I thought I could find some help over here. Didn't know about non-support of older versions, sorry. :(

    Thanks anyway.

  • I'm no administrator but I'm a user of i-MSCP because that's the administration platform for the customers of the current provider. So I'm admin of the site, not the server.

Well, they're just a reseller provider, so they can't do that much anyway - By the way I'll leave that provider by November. And that's the problem: I am going to move my site to a different server (no provider btw.) with keeping the domain, so what I want to do is changing the domain mails to forwarding mails (so that they got forwarded immediately before the domain switches over to the new IP) as long as the migration process is running to make sure no emails (or as little as possible emails) get lost.

If that's not really i-MSCP-related, then that's my fault (due to lack of knowledge) - but of course i'd appreciate some helpful links of how to migrate email accounts connected to i-MSCP safely.

Sorry for bugging you with this. :/

    Thanks in advance

I would suggest you to change your Provider, if there such administrators to manage the server. That's negligence. ;(

  • @rockplums - yeah, that's what I am currently doing. They are very nice and supportive but as I said, as resellers they can't change that much in their configurations.. They just can use what they're provided.

TheCry: Thanks, sounds cool. I'll take a deeper look into this.
