Creating backups directly on the production server will never be safe. You have to develop your own backup strategy. I recommend borgbackup.

For me as admin external no problem.
I mainly concerned for resellers / customers.
It would be more user friendly.
Everything beautiful on 1 surface at 1 click for backup with FTP + DB..

The 1.3.x Serie is freeze. It is already planned to rewrite the backup tools in v2.0.0. Don't ask us for a date. There is no due date.
BTW: @f4Nm1Z9k2P is totally right in his sentence.
