I just wanted to upgrade my i-MSCP to the latest git version on a debian 6.0.8 vps, but everytime I try it stops.

How long did you wait before killing the process? How much memory do you have? From another putty, what is the result of 'ps aux' for the involved process (including any child)?

Ok, you have a ton of i-MSCP backup process, which should be terminated before running the i-MSCP installer. If you need online support, PM me.
