Feature request for Mozilla .well-known folder

  • Thanks for the input. I don't think that it has anything to do with the github link from mrpink. These .well-known folders seem to appear strictly in those domains where working emails exist. Thunderbird isn't used on the server side though, at least not to my knowledge. Just on our home systems. It's just an odd coincidence that these folders never appeared anywhere while we were using i-mscp, until the most recent updates.
For webmail access, there's Roundcube and Rainloop.

Is it safe to show the entire output from the # ls -alR /etc/imscp/skel/ command? I'm seeing a ton of information (that I don't understand) which includes applied/existing permissions. Thought I'd ask for verification before putting something potentially sensitive online, as I'm not a knowledgeable admin ...
(have to use screen shots since I can't copy putty output)

Again, i-MSCP doesn't create those folders!

    Are you serious?

Well, here I see a major problem: You have not the sufficient knownledges in Linux to administrate a server. Thus, I 'll stop here with that thread. If I ask you to give us the result of a command without warn you on sensitive data, it is safe.. Anyway, you should know that permissions on files are not sensitive data...

You can even not imagine how I'm scared when I see all those people that administrate a server without even having Linux bases ;) Even worse are those which understand nothing and that are complaining... making other people think that i-MSCP is coded with feet...

  • Isn't that how people learn? By joining forums, asking questions, and becoming educated about things that a person knows little about? Believe it or not, but I've been Online for over 20 years and I've never known for tech forums to be anything other than educational & helpful. That's a pretty scary lack of intolerance ...
It's not unreasonable to ask about posting things which show read/write permissions on server locations ...

mrpink ... I don't know if we're using Let's Encrypt because we actually have a third party server admin who sets up the server and installs the web CP of our choice. I found i-mscp some time ago and told our admin that I like it better than the defunct vhcs that we'd been using up to that point. If Let's Encrypt has to do with "https" then yes, it's probably being used.

I may not be a server admin but I'm pretty proud of myself for having made the 100% switch to Linux after 18 years with Windoze. Always willing to learn a little more. So I apologize for trying to ease the burden on our admin by coming here in order to learn a little something about the software that we're using on our server. It won't happen again. Geeez, what a complete turn-off ... X(

    1. I'm not administering a server all by myself ... there is a third party admin.
    2. Where am I complaining about i-mscp or the server? Do you understand enough English to know what complaining means?
    3. I came here, asking questions and hoping to learn something ... which requires tolerance.
    4. Again, I apologize for thinking anyone here would be willing to display patience and to help me learn.
    5. You may as well end this thread here !!!

    Isn't that how people learn?

At least, that is not how I learn ;) I learn by fixing my issues alone, by searching on google without asking somebody. I've also read a lot of specialized books ;)

It's not unreasonable to ask about posting things which show read/write permissions on server locations ...

It is. By asking us such a thing, you prove that you should learn a bit before playing with a server.

I don't know if we're using Let's Encrypt because we actually have a third party server admin who sets up the server and installs the web CP of our choice.

Maybe a better option for you is to ask your admin first ;)

And we answered you clearly: i-MSCP doesn't create those folders. Better is to ask your administrator.

Then the .well-know directory was created by the Let's Encrypt client while requesting the certificate.

But you came here and cried that whe have created that directory and that you don't like it. First I had asked my Administrator, if you do not know what is happening on the server.
