Just do it. Any patch is checked and fixed/improved (if needed). That for we ask you to fork and do pull request. It's more easy for us to comment and integrate.

it's working pretty fine for me, in the next days i have some time for some bugsmashing.
i got branches working now, but i have to reconstruct my fork to test my changes.
cleanest way is to refork my repo atm

Your branch will be fully checked and merged in the 1.1.0-rc2 version. We are now in freeze state for the next release ( 1.1.0-rc1.5 )
