Password-authentification-Type Plain text after i-Mscp Upgrade (from 1.3.7 to 1.5.3 and debian 8.11 to 9.11)

    the update seems to work properly except by we are not able to authenticate via IMAP, SMTP to the mailserver (dovecot/postfix) with encrypted passwords. We now need to change all mail-settings to plain text authentification.


    Is this wrong behaviour or not needed/supported anymore because transportation is already STARTTLS or SSL?

    This is perfectly correct. Some years ago, the hashing in the database was changed, so "encrypting" passwords was not possbile any more. As you already pointed out, passwords are still encrypted in transport via TLS.
