Question about what distro to select

  • I want to install i-mscp on my server. What distro should i select from official supported? Debian or Ubuntu? And what version of Debian (8 or 9) or Ubuntu (16.04 or 17.10 or 18)?

    Thank you

    Good evening,

Both Debian and Ubuntu are officially supported. For Ubuntu, only LTS versions are supported (currently 14.04, 16.04).

For debian, we recommend latest stable which is currently 9.0 (Stretch).

If i install this software in Ubuntu 18.04 (64 Bit), i will have problems?

Yes because Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) is not supported yet. You'll not even be able to install i-MSCP on that version yet. Support is planned for next version. For now best is to go with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) which is still supported by Ubuntu team. From i-MSCP usage point of view, you'll not see major difference anyway. You'll always be able to upgrade later to Ubuntu 18.04.

Don't forget, i-MSCP is meant for a server distribution (without X server so), not for a desktop installation.
