Best way to migrate from SysCP?

  • Hi all,

I want to migrate my server from Syscp to Imscp.
I can use all tips and advice that are available on the topic, since this is going to be major task.

    Situation:
    - Harddisk is two drives in RAID 0.
    - Partitioned as LVM, less than 50% are actually in volume groups.
    - System can be backed up at any time using rsync.
    - 100 users, 150 domains, 200 mysql databases, 400 mail addresses, ~30 gigs of user data
    - I need a test phase for admins (team of two)
    - I need a test phase for key users

So here's the plan; any advice on improvements (including "this is madness, try something else") are welcome:
    - Set up a virtual machine. (I've been planning to switch distros anyway ;).)
    - Make the VM connect to the internet (bridging or something)
    - Install Imscp on the VM.
    - Work out scripts to mangle Syscp settings to a form that Imscp understands
    - Work out a way to test the domains on the VM (not sure how)
    - Administrator testing
    - End user testing
    - Back up server
    - Clean server
    - Install new distro, Imscp, pull user data and configuration data from backup
    - Run Imcp installation scripts
    - Smoke test, let the users in
