How to force customer site to only use HTTPS?

Hi all,
I've installed a SSL cert for a customers site. Is there any way to force that site to only use HTTPS even if people come in on HTTP.

Via .htaccess is one option.

In 1.3.0 we'll add HSTS feature. Then it's possible to activate HSTS for that domain (HTTP Strict Transport Security). This feature is already available in 1.3.x git-branch.
