Well, Nuxwin already told you. Its up to you, to backup the database (and files if you want to be one the safe side) before you do a upgrade/update.

The mail backup inside the backups folder should only contain the mails and so on. I doubt that the contacts are saved there as well (but I am not sure).

The roundcube database isnt on of the default ones. I you manually need to do that.

Try that (set it to manual first). If its set to automatic and it crashes, means something is wrong with your interface configuration.

And btw, you should set it to automatic in the first place. Let the "main" IP set to manual and let the system configure addiontional IPs. The additional ones will be set to automatic from the system itself (not if you manually add them).

In that case you should simply accept the fact how they handle it. Because by provoking them, you will only end up getting scoled or banned.
