.htaccess file is the common way to protect a web folder when using Apache2... Anyway, you say " As plesk do it" without even saying us how that is done in plesk...
I don't know how exaclty plesk do it but i think that the .htaccess is excluded from the customer folders and loaded an other way, but how its work exactly with plesk i don't know.
